Every week, I get countless messages from men and women who tell me they are:
1️⃣Drowning at work
5️⃣Neglecting their self care
6️⃣And they DON’T HAVE TIME to change any of it
SOUND FAMILIAR?? Been there...
I hate to be the bearer of bad news… but you are probably NEVER going to HAVE TIME for these things unless you MAKE TIME for them and are ADAMANT about keeping these promises to yourself. Find a supportive community of like-minded people or a coach to hold you accountable, throw your EXCUSES out the window and START NOW!
Here are the things I do EVERY DAY to practice my SELF CARE:
MEDITATION: I spend 5 minutes listening to a guided meditation on gratefulness. I sit quietly and rest one hand on my heart and one hand on my stomach and focus on breathing in through my nose and out through my mouth. It’s impossible to feel angry/stressed/sad AND grateful at the same time, so it’s a great reset for any time of day.
JOURNAL: I write down one thing I am grateful for and 10 DREAMS, as if they have already happened. For example… instead of saying, “My dream is to be a good mom,” I write out, “I am an EXCEPTIONAL mom and have a wonderful relationship with my son.” Instead of saying, “I would like to pay off my student loan debt and earn more money,” I write, “I am debt free, I earn $1,000,000 per year, I have $100,000 in the bank and money comes easily to me.” #micdrop BOOM. This isn’t the time to play small - DREAM BIG.
LEARN: I listen to books on Audible in the car about the latest health, nutrition, mental strength, and mindset research findings! If you’re not learning, you’re not GROWING!
TEACH: I teach others daily about ways they can become healthier, stronger versions of themselves - whether its by answering messages on social media or emails, working with clients, or posting daily videos in my 30-Day Challenges about Mental Strength, Nutrition and Exercise.
TIME BLOCKING: On Sundays, I sit down with my Google Calendar and block off time, hour by hour, with specific details pertaining to how I will spend my time each day. First, I fill out my workouts, morning routine and quality time with my family. THEN I fill in the gaps with work, appointments and travel time!
FOOD LOG: Logging in MyFitness Pal holds me accountable to make healthier choices, eat appropriate portion sizes, and stay within a certain calorie range each day.
DRINK WATER: I drink 100-128 oz of water every day! It’s a non-negotiable and has become a part of my daily routine, just like brushing my teeth.
