Meal Prep: Healthy Turkey Chili

It's -16 in Minneapolis this morning and there's no school today! Tye asked if he could have his FAVORITE chili for lunch, so we're meal prepping my mom's (aka Grandma Wendy's) Healthy Turkey Chili recipe!

Healthy Turkey Chili

Ingredients:

+Two lbs. extra lean ground turkey
+½ yellow onion (chopped)
+Two 15 oz. cans of chili beans
+Two 15 oz. cans of black beans
+Two 15 oz. cans of great northern beans
+Two 15 oz. can of tomato sauce
+Two 15 oz. cans of diced tomatoes (optional)
+2-3 Tbsp. of chili powder (to taste)

 Directions: 

+Chop ½ of a yellow onion and sauté in a pan until they are transparent
+In the same pan, brown 2 lbs. of extra lean ground turkey until cooked through
+In a Dutch Oven on your stovetop, add ground turkey, chopped onion, chili beans, black beans, great northern beans, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes and 2-3 Tbsp. of chili powder (to taste) and simmer on low for 45 minutes to an hour. 

Optional Topping Ideas:

+Diced avocado
+Chopped cilantro
+Lime wedges 
+Nonfat plain Greek yogurt
